A challenge game of football between members of Oasis Youth
Project and Police Officers from Girvan and Ayr ended in a 3-3 draw.
In a good natured friendly! the talents
of the Police keeper and the goal-line clearance skills of local Constable
Donald Neil saw the Police take the lead before the teams went in at halftime.
The heavy pitch, pace of the game and the introduction of the striking partnership
of ‘Larsson’ and Sean Taylor soon put the Police under the cosh
and trailing 3-1. The youth had the upper hand, so much so that the Oasis
keeper was seen in a deckchair reading a book! However while the legs and
lungs were gone, old heads were still evident and as Oasis pushed forward
the Police exploited the defence gaps and snatched two late goals.
Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the
game and it is hoped that this is the first of many friendly challenges involving
Oasis and the local Police. However I think the next one will be dominoes,
ludo and tiddlywinks!
Both teams would like to thank Girvan
Youth Football Club and Ronnie Hutchison for their support and involvement.
We would also like to wish Constable Donald Neil a speedy return from his
injury and can we have our stretcher back!
